Women add Pilkington Cup
Following their victory in the Leinster Senior Cup, The Merrion [W] 1st XI made it two years in a row with another win in the 50 Over Pilkington Cup in Rathmines against a Malahide [Combined] XI.
Fielding first they quickly established ascendency with Hannah deBurgh White and Jill Whelan taking early wickets. Although Malahide fought back, a couple of wickets from Isobel Joyce and some excellent fielding leading to two run outs kept the score to 129.
A bright start saw both Emma Beamish and then Isobel Joyce get starts but it remained to Cecelia Joyce to provide the backbone of the innings with 49 and Jill Whelan to bring it home with a not out 31.
MOM went to Jill Whelan for all round performance [3/21 and 31*]
