Huge weekend ahead for the Mens 1s team,

Posted by MCC ADMIN (SH) on 20 July 2018

The men's firsts face three very different challenges this weekend as the season begins to reach the business end.

Friday night sees Merrion host Phoenix in the Alan Murray Cup QF, then Saturday Dom Joyce's side face North County in Inch while Sunday it's the refixed All-Ireland QF against Leinster.

Merrion have been going strongly this season and sit aloft the league table while also still in contention on all four fronts and Joyce admits that it is a big weekend ahead.

" It's big [weekend} in that we could be out of two of two competitons after the weekend if things don't go our way."

Merrion have not won the league in seventeen years and Joyce has targeted the league all season.

" Our main focus is the league so Saturday is huge for us, North County have been going great for the last month or so, so it will be a very tough game"

All facets of Merrion's game will be tested this weekend and the former international knows his squad will be under pressure all weekend.

" The squad has been great this season, the bowling has been outstanding and the batting solid although the lower order probably hasn't been under too much pressure yet."

" Those guys will have to stand up and be counted in the tight games to come"

Joyce knows that the Merrion supporters have a huge role to play this weekend especially for the two away games.

" We would love for as many people to come and support us as possible in this crucial weekend, that support could help us over the line in the tight games."
